Two volume set bound in full call leather with red and blue title/author bands on spine. Volume one dated 1885, volume two 1886, both Charles L Webster (NY). First edition thus. Both volumes with marbled endpapers and page edges (edges faded all around on both).
Volume one VG: tight, sound binding, faded page edges (as noted), stain to rear board, all plates, maps & foldout present and attached.
Volume two Fair: front board hanging on by literal threads, spine cover split & curling, upper and lower outer corners (front and rear) all showing leather peel/bump damage. Missing facsimile of surrender papers at pg 496 but all other maps, prints & foldouts present and attached.
A very restorable set, bargain priced.
