Up for your consideration is this spectacular slice of Rock and Roll history, in what was billed as "The Laugh Cure Dance and Concert" featuring Quicksilver Messenger Service, Blues Project, and the Sons of Adam playing a 2-night stand at the Avalon Ballroom in San Francisco.
The print, produced by Family Dog, is designated as FD-8, and was illustrated by the legendary psychedelic artist, Wes Wilson. It measures 14.25" x 20." The shows took place in 1966, and this specimen is technically a "second edition" as it was printed shortly after the show in 1966 to satisfy demand from fans, who wanted something to commemorate the occasion. It's incredibly difficult to tell the difference between the 1st and 2nd editions, as they were printed on identical paper and are virtually indistinguishable. From the best of my knowledge, there is an extra half-tooth visible on the woman in the top-left corner in the 1st edition. The back side of the print features a notation in pencil that this is indeed a 2nd edition. It measures 14.25" x 20.5."
The condition is honestly remarkable for something that is now 60 years old: Just a few stray, minor blemishes along the edges. This will look absolutely spectacular when framed up! It is now being stored flat in a temperature-controlled environment.
I take pride in shipping artwork properly. This will be gently rolled in kraft paper, and that will be secured with painter's tape and pull tabs to make it easier for you to unroll upon receipt. That roll will be placed in a sturdy Yazoo poster tube, and the endcaps will be secured with mailing tape. That tube will then be weatherproofed and placed inside a larger box, and shipped directly to your door.
Shipping is fast and free.
