David Lettermanflew fans fromChicagoto New York City inApril 1998for a special Chicago-themed episode of theLate Show.[1]Tired of traveling on remote segments to his fans, Letterman instead chartered three planeloads of Chicagoans from Midway Airport to the Ed Sullivan Theater in New York.
