RARE Pavement Ants Tetramorium Immigrans Queen Colony W/ 1-5W Live Feeder Insect:
$24.99

These are Immigrant Pavement Ants, found across North America and Europe, and they are legendary for being one of the most resilient, fast-growing, and active species in the entire hobby. They are the definition of an explosive species—starting small but quickly turning into a bustling, dynamic colony. They are incredibly fun to watch because they have zero fear, adapt to almost any setup, and are highly active foragers that are constantly on the move.

Temperament: Highly bold, active, and aggressive toward any prey or rival insects that get near their territory.

Max colony size: Large, dense colonies that can top out at around 10,000 to 30,000 workers at full, peak maturity.

Egg to worker speed: Explodes with growth, taking only about 3 to 5 weeks from egg to adult worker when kept consistently warm.

Difficulty: Easy. They are arguably the single best beginner species in the hobby due to their extreme hardiness, fast growth, and highly forgiving nature.

CARE GUIDE.

On arrival: Leave her alone in a dark, quiet environment. They are fully claustral and don\'t need any food until their first workers hatch.

Food: They are ultimate generalists and will eat practically anything. Once workers arrive, give them sweet liquids like honey water, sugar water, or ant jellies. For protein, feed them small insects like fruit flies, crickets, or mealworms. They will even occasionally accept small seeds or crushed nuts.

Temp: They do great at standard room temperatures but truly explode with growth if given extra warmth. Keep them around 24°C–28°C for optimal brood development, with a temperature gradient.

Hibernation: This species requires a brief winter rest period to stay healthy long-term. Provide a mild slowdown or diapause period at around 10°C–15°C for about 2 to 3 months, usually from December to February.
