"NORTHWESTERN MILITARY MARCH", a relatively obscure Northwestern University fight song, music written in 1912 by Donald G. Robertson, lyrics by Grace Adele Strickler. Sold by Ye College Shoppe in Evanston Illinois.
This march belongs to an early era of school spirit music at Northwestern University, coming around the same time as other early tunes before songs like "Go U Northwestern" became the main tradition. Robertson, a student from the Northwestern class of 1913,also wrote the "Northwestern Push On Song," which is more commonly known as "Rise Northwestern" and remains in common use by the Wildcat Band.
All music is present. Large format (13.5"x10.5"). Sheet is in acceptable condition considering its age. The cover is essentially a heavy-paperstock folder which encloses the music. The composer's signature appears on the front of the first page of the music; it's not clear whether this was printed or is an actual ink signature. The printed music itself encompasses 4 pages. Spines are mostly split, and there are quite a few edge tears. The cover presents with a variety of corner and edge chips as can be seen by the pictures (2nd and 3rd pics are from scanner to better show actual condition of the cover). Nevertheless, this is a very hard to find piece of NU history and is worthy of your consideration.
