Incredibly scarce, highly sought-after 1937 figural fur clip by Coro, depicting Edgar Bergen’s legendary ventriloquist dummy, Charlie McCarthy. This iconic piece of pop-culture history is a verified jewelry \"book piece\" and a great find for vintage novelty jewelry collectors.
• Brand / License: Manufactured by Coro in 1937. Deeply and clearly stamped on the reverse with the crisp text: \"EXCLUSIVE LICENSE FROM EDGAR BERGEN AND CHARLIE MCCARTHY INC.\"
• Mechanical Feature Note: This is the mechanical-style clip featuring the lower jaw tab at the bottom. Please note that the lever is currently stiff and the jaw does not move up and down. It is being sold \"as-is\" for display or restoration.
• Design & Materials: Detailed with hand-painted enamel across his signature black top hat, monocle cord, and tuxedo jacket. Features a spring-loaded two-prong fur clip mechanism on the reverse.
• Era: Dated exactly to 1937.
• Condition: Good vintage condition. While the jaw mechanism is stiff, the enamel-painted facial and clothing details remain remarkably crisp and intact. The reverse stamps are perfectly legible with a clean, age-appropriate metal patina.
An absolute masterpiece of late 1930s novelty costume jewelry design!
