A remarkable piece of American tool history.
This Hub Hardware Co. house axe was manufactured by Mann Edge Tool Co. in the early 20th century specifically for a local Boston, Massachusetts merchant. Hub axes are fairly scarce, and this example is truly exceptional.
Made in 1905, this axe is 121 years old and has been carefully restored and prepared for another 120 years of service.
I completely restored the axe while preserving the history and character of the original tool. The head was hung on its original 26" hickory handle, sharpened with a half-banana grind and micro bevel.
To finish it off, I made a custom full-grain leather sheath, double saddle-stitched and riveted for durability. The sheath is built to protect this axe for generations to come.
I genuinely enjoyed bringing this old tool back to life. It has an incredible look, feel, and presence that photos simply don't capture.
I do my absolute best to describe the items the best I can, so please make sure to look at all of the photos. I try to provide as much detail as possible, as the pictures are a key part of the description. Any questions that you may have, please let me know!
