Lord Weary’s Castle.

Lord Weary\'s Castle won the 1947 Pulitzer Prize for Poetry and solidified Lowell’s reputation as a major American poet. The book is known for its formal structure, dense symbolism, and intense depiction of conflict and sin. It was preceded by a smaller, privately printed collection called Land of Unlikeness, with many of its poems revised for Lord Weary\'s Castle.
Inscribed and signed “For Fred Asnos from Robert Lowell May 15, 1956”, upside down on the back endpaper; presumably he was given the book upside down and signed the page as if it were the front endpaper.
Hardcover. 5.5x8, 69 pages, dust jacket. The jacket is quite worn- rubbed, worn, torn and chipped, and has the note “The Pulitzer Prize Award for Poetry 1947” at the top of the front flap. The book itself has some cover soil and light wear, and some soil on the endpapers.
