Marks: Bears the makers mark SI Ld and full Chester hallmarks.#
Notes: Sir Alfred Newton, 1st Baronet was an infamous British businessman, was notably Lord Mayor of London and chairman of Harrods amongst other things. He died in mysterious circumstances in 1921 of strychnine poisoning.
He was made governor of the The Honourable The Irish Society in 1906, which is very likely what this box is related to.
