A Roman bronze issued under Domitian (as Caesar or Augustus, depending on the type), commemorating the Flavian victory in the First Jewish Revolt (66–73 AD).
Obverse:
Bust of Domitian, laureate, often shown right, with a youthful or more mature portrait depending on the date.
Reverse (IVDAEA CAPTA type):
A mourning figure of Judaea seated or kneeling beneath a trophy of arms, sometimes with a bound captive or palm tree. The design proclaims Flavian dominance following the capture of Jerusalem and the suppression of the revolt.
This series continued the propaganda theme begun under Vespasian and Titus, reinforcing the legitimacy and military success of the Flavian dynasty. Domitian’s versions are scarcer and stylistically distinctive, marking an important chapter in the long “Judaea Capta” coinage program.
