One of the most historically interesting pieces isJohn H. Fischer’s “One City’s Success,” page 27, reviewingThe Louisville Storyby Omer Carmichael and Weldon James. The book and review examine the integration of Louisville, Kentucky public schools and the way that city approached desegregation.
Also included is Leonard Buder’s“The Children of Conformity,”an examination of teenage conformity and American youth culture. The article later appeared in educational instructional materials, where it was specifically identified as originating in this September 14, 1957 issue.
