Striking vintage signed studio art pottery bowl featuring a low, rounded hand-thrown form with a dramatic glossy near-black exterior and brilliant turquoise-blue glazed interior. The exterior is decorated with a repeating abstract cream-colored motif that resembles stylized birds, giving the piece a distinctly Mid-Century Modern / folk-modern appearance. The exposed cream stoneware contrasts beautifully against the dark glaze, while the interior has a rich variegated turquoise glaze with lighter blue movement throughout. Throwing and finishing marks remain visible on the underside, emphasizing its handmade studio origin. The base bears an incised artist signature or monogram, but I have been unable to positively identify the potter and am leaving the attribution open rather than guessing. A particularly decorative piece that works equally well as a small centerpiece, catchall or standalone art pottery display. Measures approximately 6" across.
