Stanley Hand Plane Tote Handle Template 5-Piece Set for No's 2 Through No 8
These templates are 1/8in.(3mm) thick with indentations on the edge to indicate where the brass nut and threaded rod insert points and toe screw holes should be located. The templates also show the tote-rod bore angle from our high resolution three dimensional scans.This tote-rod bore angle is not a critical dimension. Some replacement tote makers specify anywhere from 25° to 27° and they are all correct because this small difference is of little practical importance. The 7/32in.(#12) plain-steel rod has ample clearance within the 5/16” bore and can flex slightly to accommodate minor angular variation. The tote base angle and mating geometry are considerably more important and should be accurately measured from the original tote handle if you have it or plane casting base to ensure firm, even seating.
How do we do this?
The templates in this listing were modeled from original Stanley Totes. The Totes are placed on a turntable and scanned with a high resolution 0.004in.(0.1mm) 3d scanner. The mesh files are imported into AutoCAD Fusion 360 where we reduce the resolution to 0.02in.(0.5mm) for smoothing. Once the design is finalized it is sent to an industrial 3d printer for testing. The entire process is done in-house and allows us to guarantee complete accuracy and highest quality
