Gorgeous heavyweight handknit Austrian folk-style cropped cream cardigan, likely made in the 1950s or 60s based on the label and overall style. This sweater is very thickly knit, super warm, almost a jacket in terms of its weight and suitability for cold weather. Has the cutest little details, tiny green leaf motif on the chest and functional crochet rose buttons all the way down. There is no material content but it is almost certainly 100% wool.
FIT NOTE: This is a small sweater overall, but the arms in particular seem narrower than is average for a garment of this size. Please look closely at the measurements in the photos and compare these to a garment that fits you well. For reference, my arms are roughly 9.5" in circumference and I can get the sweater on but it is uncomfortably tight, especially with long sleeves on underneath.
FLAWS NOTED: This is a handknit item so it is not perfect. There is a knot on the upper left back shoulder that appears to either be a hole that was fixed or a mistake in the knitting. This is photographed with an arrow pointing to it in the pictures, though it is not really noticeable when wearing, it blends in quite well. There is a similar mistake or perhaps a small pull on the front upper right, this is photographed with a circle around it. Again, it blends in well and you really have to look to notice it.
Additionally some of the arm/armpit seams are less tightly knit---I think this is a function of the way the garment was constructed (how the person who knit it connected the arm panels to each other and those arms to the body of the sweater) and not a flaw per se, but it seemed notable to mention. The seams are still very strong and the garment itself seems very sturdy. I tried to photograph the seams both as they lay and gently pulled apart just to give you an idea of how the item presents.
OTHER NOTES: This sweater has a lingering laundry detergent scent; as stated below I only use unscented soap but the person I purchased it from used scented detergent and I haven't worn the sweater enough for the previous smell to dissipate.
While the sweater will be laundered before shipping, my unscented soap is unlikely to eliminate the smell of the other detergent completely. Just a caution if you are particularly sensitive to scented laundry detergents.

Please recognize that no vintage item will be perfect, small flaws are likely to be present---by purchasing vintage the buyer accepts this fact. These clothes will have had a long life before coming to you. I will however note any major flaws (holes, stains, etc.) on the listing if necessary.

All items are hand-washed in hypoallergenic unscented detergent, air-dried, and steam sanitized before shipping. No scented products of any kind (including moth balls, dryer sheets, room deodorizers, etc.) are used in my home. However, vintage items very rarely smell completely neutral, these clothes have been in storage, and I live in an old house, any of which might impart its own lightly perceptible scent even after laundering---if you are overly sensitive to scents I would advise bypassing vintage in general and my listings in particular might not be right for you.
This item comes from my personal vintage collection, which I have amassed over the course of the last 12 years or so.
