Victorian 1838–39 velvet‑bound Book of Common Prayer with the Tate & Brady New Version of the Psalms of David, printed at Cambridge by J.W. Parker. Premium early‑Victorian “Church Service” binding with gilt clasp, gilt edges, and original leather‑covered protective case. Front gilt plaque reads “Church Service.”
Includes early presentation inscription:
“To Mary with compliments of John, 1839.”

The Tate & Brady Psalms title page bears the Roman numeral date MDCCCXXXVIII (1838), confirming early‑Victorian production. This edition was issued without a separate Book of Common Prayer title page, as typical for Cambridge “Church Service” bindings of this period.

Velvet spine covering detached but present; boards firmly attached and text block tight. Gilt clasp intact and functional. Pages clean with light age toning.
