Up for sale is a scarce 1945 movie tie-in edition of Phil Stong\'s classic novel State Fair, published by Grosset & Dunlap to coincide with the iconic 20th Century-Fox Technicolor musical film starring Jeanne Crain and Dana Andrews (featuring the music of Rodgers & Hammerstein).
This collectible volume features the original film-themed dust jacket, illustrated cinematic endpapers showing a mid-way stage performance, a custom gold-stamped carousel vignette on the front cover, and an internal production credits page for the movie.
Condition Details:
- Dust Jacket: Present and protected inside a clear archival mylar sleeve. Shows light vintage shelf wear and age toning, but remains highly presentable.
- Hardcover Binding: The original orange cloth boards are firm with solid hinges and crisp gold/black spine stamping. Please note there is noticeable water spotting, staining, and color fading along the right margin and edges of the front board (see photos).
- Interior Pages: Clean, tightly bound, and free of writing or heavy foxing. A light vintage pencil price notation ($12.00) is visible on the half-title page.
