Up for sale is a highly collectible piece of American guitar amp history: an original Vintage Crate 1 (Model CR-1) solid-state combo amplifier. Manufactured in the late 1970s by SLM Electronics (St. Louis Music) in the USA, this is the legendary first-generation design that launched the entire Crate brand.
The company name was famously inspired by these exact enclosures—built using a rugged, distinctive solid pine wood cabinet made to look like an authentic shipping crate. This specific unit features a green front faceplate, dual instrument inputs, and a single 12" speaker that outputs a punchy, classic 20 watts.
