Beautiful and unusual late 1940s/early 1950s two-piece cotton swimsuit, featuring a tiny orange polka-dot print on a soft peach/beige background.
The structured bra-style top has shaped seamed cups, a sweetheart neckline with a peek-a-boo hole in the center, decorative center bow, elasticized underbust/back, and long halter ties that fasten behind the neck. Matching bottoms feature the wonderfully period high-waisted, full-coverage shorts/bloomer silhouette with elastic at the waist and legs. Contrasting orange fabric is visible inside portions of the set.
The combination of cotton construction, high-waisted full-coverage bottoms, structured halter top and period construction is consistent with postwar 1940s into early 1950s swimwear. A fantastic survivor and an especially charming example of early pinup/beach fashion.
No maker or size label is present
Excellent vintage condition with little age-related wear consistent with an approximately 75-year-old garment. The elastic and cotton are perfect and structurally sound, and the interior lining is clean. Almost as if it was never worn. Please examine all photos carefully, particularly the elastic, closures, ties and stitching, as these form part of the condition description.
Best fits an XS.
