Vintage CRIS 925 Sterling Silver Filigree Handbag Purse Floral 645g
A spectacular vintage sterling-silver handbag featuring exceptionally intricate pierced floral and foliate decoration. The elaborate openwork covers the front, back, sides and flap, creating a richly textured lace-like appearance.
The purse has a structured rectangular body, scalloped flap, decorative thumb clasp and substantial rigid handle. The underside is engraved with scrolling foliage and fitted with four rounded feet. The interior continues the ornate floral design and includes an open compartment along the back.
The interior frame is hallmarked “CRIS,” “925” and “M1” or “MI.” The 925 mark represents sterling silver containing 92.5% silver. CRIS is presumed to be the maker or workshop mark; the maker and secondary mark have not been conclusively identified.
This beautifully crafted statement purse would make an impressive addition to a collection of vintage silver, evening bags, bridal accessories or decorative objets d’art.
