Vintage Cherokee Wolf ( Booger Mask):

This is a beautifully carved wolf mask that I am very sure is Cherokee and a variant of their booger masks the most famous of which represent the clans of the Cherokee. This is more of a modern approach than some of the masks I handled it is very well conceived by someone who was a skilled artist and carpenter. He used two planks of what I believe is Carolina Buckeye Wood, and then he cut a ring into one of the boards to create the face cavity on the back of the mask and on the front, he took advantage of modern tools, and I believe the beautifully carved fur is made with a Dremel. It has the classic hide thong mask ties I couldn’t find a signature. when sold in tribal shops they came with an artist tag on the thong
Perhaps with its use of power tools this one was from a personal collection where the artist wanted to enjoy an easier project
It measures about 10 x12” and is sure to please
