A striking Chinese porcelain bowl featuring a detailed famille rose-style painting of a group of Daoist immortals traveling together on a large tree branch across turbulent waves. Another immortal is depicted riding a crane or celestial bird above the scene.
The figures are painted in a variety of colorful robes, including purple, blue, green, and yellow. Their facial expressions, individual features, and flowing garments create a lively narrative scene. The waves and textured tree branch are rendered with considerable detail.
The exterior features an unusual mottled golden-orange finish with variations in color and a glossy surface. The recessed base bears a blue-and-white double-circle six-character Chinese reign mark reading “大清雍正年製” (Made during the Yongzheng reign of the Qing Dynasty).
