item pictured is an authentic vintage Creek Chub Jointed Pikie Minnow fishing lure, historically manufactured by the Creek Chub Bait Company based in Garrett, Indiana.
First introduced in 1926, the Jointed Pikie
• The "Pikie" Profile: Designed to mimic the natural swimming shape of a pike minnow, the lure features a distinctive streamlined head and tapered body.
• The Metal Lip: The stamped metal diving lip at the nose is a signature Creek Chub trait. It is precisely angled to give the lure its trademark slow, wide-wobbling swimming action when reeled or trolled, allowing it to dive anywhere from 4 to 11 feet deep depending on how fast it is pulled.
• Jointed Body: First launched around 1926, the two-section jointed design added an extra realistic, serpentine wiggle in the water that made it incredibly deadly for large predatory fish like northern pike, muskie, striper, and trophy bass.
(Dating Your Lure)
• Body Material: Early models produced from 1926 through the mid-20th century were meticulously carved from wood. Later iterations moved to tough plastic polymers. Your lure's visible aging and texture strongly resemble the classic painted wood variant.
• The Eyes: Creek Chub lures evolved from using shiny glass eyes in the early eras to painted tacks, and eventually to molded or printed plastic eyes on later models.
• Stamping: The crisp text stamped directly into the back or sides reading "CREEK CHUB PIKIE" is an excellent marker of mid-era production authenticity.
