Vintage wind-up harness racing toy of a horse pulling a two-wheeled sulky cart with a driver. The brown horse wears number 5 on its harness and has jointed legs that were made to move in a trotting motion. The driver sits in the sulky wearing a yellow cap, blue and yellow silks with number 5 on the back, and red boots. The sulky has a wire frame and two spoked wheels with black rubber tires, and the wind-up mechanism is mounted underneath.
The wind-up mechanism is stamped “Made in Germany” and “D.R.G.M.”, the old German registered-design mark found on German toys made before the early 1950s. Close-up photos of the markings are included.
Please note: this toy does not wind up, and the mechanism doesn’t work. It is sold as-is for parts, repair or display only.
