Vintage Howdy Doody Marionette Puppet – Circa 1950s
Vintage Howdy Doody string marionette puppet, believed to be from the 1950s and associated with Peter Puppet Playthings.
Features the classic Howdy Doody character with red hair, freckled face, plaid shirt, blue pants, belt, cowboy boots, and “HD” star graphics on the boot covers.
Measures approximately 16 inches from head to feet (see measurement photo). Includes the original-style upper marionette control and attached strings.
The puppet shows considerable age-related wear consistent with its vintage age. There is paint loss, scuffing and surface wear to the face/head, including noticeable wear around the nose. Clothing and boot covers show wear, fraying and small damaged areas. Strings are tangled/aged and may require adjustment or restringing before proper operation.
The movable mouth mechanism is present. Functionality of the complete marionette/string mechanism has not been fully tested.
No original box or additional accessories are included.
