ACQUIRED IN ISKANDARIYA, IRAQ — BROUGHT TO THE UNITED STATES IN 2006Offered here is an unusual complete collection of seven handmade Iraqi folk-art figures that I personally acquired while in Iraq and brought home to the United States in 2006.I am a U.S. Army Iraq War combat veteran, and these figures were acquired locally in Iskandariya, Iraq. They have remained together as a collection since I brought them back to the United States approximately 20 years ago.This is not a group assembled later from unrelated Middle Eastern dolls. These seven figures have shared provenance and have remained together as the collection I acquired in Iraq.THE COLLECTIONThe set consists of seven individually made figures in traditional-style clothing and head coverings. The figures vary considerably in size, pose, clothing, colors and accessories.The collection includes both standing and seated figures. Several of the seated figures incorporate miniature objects, vessels, containers or other implements suggesting scenes from traditional daily life, household work or craft activity.Notable details include:• Seven different handmade figures sold together as one collection
