Beautiful hand-knotted silk-on-silk rug from Kayseri, Turkey, accompanied by its original Certificate of Origin & Authenticity dated May 13, 1999.
The sewn identification label on the reverse identifies the rug as Kayseri Ipek, Silk on Silk, measuring 136 x 88 cm (approximately 53.5" x 34.5"). The label also notes the color as “Kirmizi” (red) and the design as “Mih Dolu” as handwritten on the original label.
The accompanying certificate from Lapis, Nuruosmaniye states that it pertains to a genuine and unique hand-knotted Turkish carpet. The certificate identifies the origin as Kayseri, Turkey, material as silk on silk, and dimensions as 1.36 x 0.88 m. The certificate is dated May 13, 1999. The dimensions and other details correspond with the identification label attached to the rug.
The rug features a rich red central field with an intricate tree, floral and bird motif surrounded by detailed floral borders. The silk pile has a beautiful directional sheen, so the colors and brightness change noticeably depending on the viewing angle and lighting. Condition: Pre-owned and approximately 28 years old based on the date of the accompanying certificate. Overall it presents very well for its age. There is normal age/use wear, including wear and irregularity to the fringe. Please carefully review all photographs for the exact condition. No attempt has been made to professionally clean or restore the rug.
