Vintage Sandizell Germany Porcelain Angel Musicians – Set of 6
Wonderful group of six approximately 6” tall porcelain angel/cherub musician figurines attributed to Sandizell, Germany, in the Dresden-style tradition.
The group includes a variety of musicians/poses, including a conductor/director, trumpet player, cymbal player and stringed-instrument musicians.
Two figures have impressed model numbers:
The figures bear variations of the Crown D / Reine Handarbeit backstamp associated with Sandizell porcelain. Reine Handarbeit translates to “pure handwork” or “entirely handmade.”
IMPORTANT DISCLOSURE:
These six figures show differences in both porcelain/glaze color and backstamp application. Two figures have a warmer ivory/cream appearance and their blue backstamps appear to be beneath the glaze. The other four are a brighter white and their blue backstamps appear to be applied over the glaze. Only two figures have visible impressed 648 model numbers; no model numbers were found on the other four.
Because of these differences, I cannot guarantee that all six were manufactured at exactly the same time or originally sold together as one factory set. They are being offered together as a coordinating group of six Sandizell/Dresden-style angel musicians.
Please examine all photographs carefully, particularly the backstamps, coloration and individual figures, as the photos form an important part of the description.
