Original vintage battery-operated Volkswagen The Thing toy, model No. 978, with its original illustrated box.The original packaging describes it as a “Non-Fall Mystery Bump ’N Go” Volkswagen with blinking light and removable top. The box calls for two D-cell batteries.This toy has NOT been tested. I have not installed batteries or attempted to operate it. It is being sold as a vintage collectible, and no guarantee is made regarding the motor, bump-and-go mechanism, blinking-light feature, or any other mechanical/electrical function.Please note: The bulb in the console/interior is missing, and one rear light/lens is missing. One of the “THE THING” side decals also has lifting/damage. These areas are shown in the photographs.The toy otherwise displays very nicely for its age and retains the removable black top. There is normal age/storage wear consistent with a vintage toy.Original box is included. The box shows considerable age and storage wear, including creases, tears, edge/corner wear and areas of separation.
