Up for sale today is a Historic Silver Db Flute bythe legendary Wm. S. Haynes Co. of Boston. According to the Haynes archives,this is a LP closed hole flute, G# with a C foot, that was made on April 26, 1919. Thisflute has a special custom lip plate made by the renowned maker Francisco “SirKiko” Candelaria. Haynes flutes from this golden era are highly sought after bycollectors and performers for their legendary silver alloy and exceptionaltonal potential once restored.
This instrument is no exception and will requireprofessional attention to be brought back to performance standards:
- The flute shows a heavy vintage patina, surface tarnishing, and light scratches consistent with a century-old instrument. There are no catastrophic damage or major crushing, but only minor pin-dents present.
- The mechanism is complete but the pads/corks will need to be replaced.
- The headjoint fitting is quite loose and will need fitting adjustment.
As this instrument is historically interesting, I havechosen to not do restoration work on it and leave that to the eventual owner.This flute will for sure make a great addition for a professional and/orcollector, so don\'t miss out!!!
