Up for sale today is a Historic Silver Flute by thelegendary Wm. S. Haynes Co. of Boston. According to the Haynes archives, thisis a LP closed hole flute with a C foot, G# that was made on April 22, 1916. Haynesflutes from this golden era are highly sought after by collectors andperformers for their legendary silver alloy and exceptional tonal potentialonce restored.
This instrument is no exception and will requireprofessional attention to be brought back to performance standards:
- The flute shows a heavy vintage patina, surfacetarnishing, and light scratches consistent with a century-old instrument. Thereare no catastrophic damage or major crushing, but only minor pin-dents present.
- The mechanism is complete but the pads/corks will needto be replaced.
- The headjoint fitting is quite loose and will needfitting adjustment to replace the previously worn out copper tape (see photo).
As this instrument is historically interesting, I havechosen to not do restoration work on it and leave that to the eventual owner.This flute will for sure make a great addition for a professional and/orcollector, so don\'t miss out!!!
