A fantastic piece of vintage aviation history: an authentic, mid-century Boeing B-29 Superfortress desk model and ashtray. These classic models were famously cast at the Boeing Wichita plant using recycled scrap aluminum directly from the aircraft assembly lines during and just after World War II. This heavy, cast-metal piece serves beautifully as a decorative desk display, paperweight, or coin dish. It features a classic Art Deco-style teardrop base and a sleek, crescent-shaped fixed armature holding the bomber in a permanent, dynamic flight position.
Condition Details:
Propellers: All 4 original clear plastic propeller discs are fully intact and present. Please note that as is typical for these authentic 1940s pieces, the plastic has aged to a natural vintage yellowing/amber hue. The propellers are fixed securely into the casting and do not spin.
Mount: The model features a sturdy, fixed mount (non-swiveling configuration) that keeps the airplane rigidly displayed on the crescent riser.
