Up for sale is a rare, vintage battery-powered Dimmer Controller Box manufactured by the historic Warren-Knight Instrument Company of Philadelphia, PA. This specialized piece of precision optical gear was originally used to regulate the brightness of illuminated crosshair reticles on astronomical finder scopes, guiding eyepieces, or alignment telescopes. By adjusting the output voltage, it allows observers to dim the red internal reticle light to a faint glow, preserving night vision while keeping tracking crosshairs perfectly visible against a dark sky.

Condition Notes: Cosmetically in solid, clean vintage condition with sharp, legible front panel lettering. It does have a piece of Kapton tape across the front, from where I had it taped to tripod leg. When I untapped it from the leg, it looked like it would tear off the front panel overlay, so i just trimmed and left it on. The internal battery compartment is clean and free of major corrosion. The "Brite" dial turns smoothly through its full rotation, and the toggle switch snaps firmly into place. (Unit is untested for exact output voltage, sold as-is for vintage astronomy or scientific instrument collectors).Output Port: 4.5mm front-panel entry opening, accepts standard vintage 3.5mm (1/8") mono mini-plug cables
