Overview:Up for sale is an incredible landscape oil on canvas painting by artist Philip T. Leonard. This atmospheric painting depicts Guatemala’s Volcán de Fuego rising above a lush, mist-filled tropical valley, with a large spreading tree dominating the foreground. A masterful piece with wonderful depth, muted color and atmosphere. Leonard’s name is written in pencil on the verso. An old, partially worn typewritten label on the back identifies the scene as Volcán de Fuego, Guatemala. Undated, but I estimate it dates to the 1950s. Framed in a substantial vintage black-painted wood frame.
Condition:Painting is in good vintage condition with scattered surface marks, light soiling and several thin scratches or abrasions in the sky. Frame shows age-related scuffs, scratches, chips and areas of paint loss.
Measurements:Painting measures 24 inches wide x 19 inches high. Frame measures approximately 27.25 inches wide x 22.5 inches high.
