Offered is a WWII-era steel-reinforced wooden tool storage / transport chest, retaining its original construction, hardware, and honest period wear. The chest is wood throughout with heavy steel edge protection and steel handles, all secured with original fasteners.
Upon removing the interior liner material a paper label was discovered inside referencing the original contents and dated 1943, providing strong period context. The chest has not been restored or altered (other than someone at some point put in a liner that is now removed) in any way and has been intentionally left as found, allowing the next owner to decide on any conservation or preservation approach.
Due to size, weight, and age, this item will be carefully packed and shipped with attention to protecting original surfaces and hardware. Please review all photographs closely, as they are considered part of the description. Local pick up is an option, even preferred, but not necessary.
