Weekly Shonen Jump 1997 No.35, the issue after ONE PIECE\'s debut: chapter 2, in which Luffy meets Koby and Roronoa Zoro is introduced. Luffy appears on the cover in the side strip (「ONE PIECE」 with Luffy\'s face, lower left).
The cover and lead color go to Hoshin Engi by Ryu Fujisaki, the third of Jump\'s three new series that summer; ONE PIECE was the first. Yu-Gi-Oh!, Rurouni Kenshin, JoJo\'s Bizarre Adventure Part 5 and Rokudenashi Blues run inside.
The first ONE PIECE issues from 1997 are the most collected Jump issues of the decade. Chapter 2 sits directly behind the No.34 debut and, unlike the debut, has never been reprinted.
