Its prints are especially notable for their early use of color-printed mezzotint, with additional color finished by hand rather than relying entirely on later hand coloring. Published in 1739, Plate 352, Cerasus, brings together five historically named cherry forms on a single sheet. The combination of flowering and fruiting specimens records how cherries were distinguished and illustrated before modern botanical classification settled into the system familiar today.
