Offered here is “Breaching,” a hand-signed and numbered limited
edition lithograph by the marine artist Wyland, from his Sumi-e
Brush Art series.
This is an ARTIST’S PROOF, numbered 33/75 — the smaller and more
sought-after proof tier rather than the standard numbered edition.
Wyland’s brush art is a distinct departure from the colorful reef
imagery he is best known for. Executed in the tradition of Japanese
sumi-e ink painting, “Breaching” renders a humpback whale in a
handful of confident black strokes against a softly graduated
ground. The result is graphic, restrained, and reads as strikingly
contemporary. Wyland’s original sumi-e brush paintings currently
retail between roughly $5,900 and $11,900 through his own galleries.

The original Wyland Worldwide, LLC inventory label remains affixed
to the backing, hand-annotated with the title, edition designation,
purchase order number, and customer number. This label has not been
removed or tampered with, and is photographed in this listing.
Wyland Worldwide’s own online edition registry lists “Breaching”
(1991, Brush Art, AP, edition size 75) with an estimated value of
$825. That is the company’s published retail replacement estimate,
provided here as reference only — it is not a guarantee of resale
value and not an independent appraisal.

Fort Lauderdale, Florida area. I am not shipping it.

glass, and glass is the one component that reliably breaks in
transit — while the signed sheet is the one component that cannot
be replaced. Rather than gamble a 1991 artist’s proof on a freight
handler, I would rather hand it to you intact.
