Vintage-Style Yangzhou Lacquerware Slender West Lake Inlaid Landscape Plaque with Carved Wood Stand & Original Presentation Box
Beautiful traditional Yangzhou lacquerware decorative landscape plaque, featuring a striking nighttime scene of Slender West Lake (瘦西湖), Yangzhou, China.
The glossy black lacquer background is decorated with intricate iridescent shell / mother-of-pearl-style inlay, creating a colorful landscape of traditional Chinese architecture, water, trees, boats and surrounding scenery. The inlaid decoration changes beautifully as the viewing angle and lighting change.
The piece includes an elaborate carved dark wood display easel, allowing the plaque to be displayed upright as a decorative work of Chinese art.

Traditional Yangzhou Craftsmanship
Yangzhou has a long and important history of Chinese lacquerware production, including sophisticated mother-of-pearl inlay techniques. Historical Yangzhou mother-of-pearl lacquerwork has been documented for centuries.
This particular piece depicts the famous Slender West Lake landscape of Yangzhou, with the iridescent inlay standing out dramatically against the deep black background.
The presentation is particularly impressive. The plaque is accompanied by an ornately carved wooden easel with traditional Chinese scrollwork and its large fitted fabric-covered presentation/storage box.
It makes an excellent display piece for a home, office, library, display cabinet or collection of Chinese decorative arts, Asian lacquerware, mother-of-pearl inlay, Yangzhou art or traditional Chinese craftsmanship.
I am offering this piece because I am downsizing my storage and reducing my personal collection. It has been carefully stored and preserved in its presentation box.
