c.1920s Historic Residence Home Kansas City MO Real Photo Postcard RPPC:
$12.11

This original real photo postcard captures a classic two-story Midwestern residence situated on a gently sloping hillside in Kansas City, Missouri. The photo side showcases detailed architectural features including an expansive covered wrap-around porch with lattice underpinnings, turned porch railings, and decorative trim along the roofline. Lush tree foliage casts soft dapple shadows across the front yard, evoking an intimate and quiet residential atmosphere from the early twentieth century. The reverse side features an authentic Kodak AZO stamp box pattern with two triangles pointing upward and two pointing downward, dating the paper stock to approximately 1918 through 1930. Handwritten ink inscriptions on the correspondence section provide valuable historical provenance for local historians and ephemera collectors. The text reads: '[REDACTED] Walnut, K.C. Mo. Home of G.S. Jones and family 56 yrs. built + moved in in 1889 when Forrest was 3 months old.'Printed on genuine silver halide gelatin photographic paper, this postcard remains a durable and authentic piece of early American architectural history. During the peak RPPC era, homeowners frequently commissioned or took photographs of their personal residences to share with relatives or keep as personal records. The rich sepia tone and sharp focus preserve the textural details of the wooden siding, porch balustrades, and surrounding neighborhood trees. In terms of physical condition, the card exhibits mild edge wear and light corner bumping consistent with age and long-term storage. The reverse cardstock displays slight age-toning and silvering typical for early silver-gelatin real photo postcards. There are no major creases, heavy stains, or tears present, making it a very clean, presentable example of Midwestern vernacular architecture for Kansas City collectors.Condition Notes: Minor corner wear and light age toning consistent with vintage era; reverse contains historic handwritten ink notes.
