Published while the events were still recent, the work provides an extensive narrative of the Russian Campaign, the retreat of the Grande Armée, the German Campaign of 1813, and the wider Wars of Liberation that culminated in the defeat of Napoleon’s forces in central Europe. The three-volume work includes two folding battle maps, illustrating important engagements of the campaign, and offers a valuable early nineteenth-century perspective on one of the defining military conflicts of the Napoleonic era.
