1837 Charles Dickens The Pickwick Club Vols. 1 & 2 Leather Bound
Antique 1837 Philadelphia edition of The Posthumous Papers of the Pickwick Club by Charles Dickens, published under his famous early pen name “Boz.”
Published by Carey, Lea & Blanchard, Philadelphia, 1837. The title page identifies this as Part First, Third Edition. The spine is marked “Pickwick Club – Vols. 1 & 2,” with both volumes bound together in one substantial leather volume.
Features an early full-leather binding with raised spine bands, black leather title panels, gilt lettering and gilt decorative rules. An old handwritten ownership inscription appears on the front endpaper.
Condition: Authentic antique condition with considerable age-related wear. Leather covers show rubbing, scuffing, edge and corner wear, and areas of surface loss. Interior pages display scattered foxing, toning and staining consistent with a book nearly 190 years old. Binding remains intact in the photographs.
