Antique Victorian Sterling Silver Fusee Pocket Watch with Chain, Key & Coin Fobs – 1872
Antique English Victorian pocket watch dating to 1872, in a hallmarked sterling silver case by William George Hammon (W.G.H.), Coventry.
The case carries British silver hallmarks indicating Chester assay, 1872. It has an engine-turned back with central decorative cartouche and a traditional white enamel dial with black Roman numerals and subsidiary seconds dial.
The watch contains a traditional key-wound fusee mechanical movement, movement number 13067, with engraved balance cock and SLOW/FAST regulator.
Included with the watch is the long period-style watch chain shown in the photographs, together with:
pocket-watch winding key
1894 British India ¼ Rupee coin fob
U.S. Seated Liberty dime coin fob, believed to date to 1863
Please note that the chain itself has been acid tested and is not precious metal. It is included as part of the group but is not being represented as sterling silver.
Condition:
The watch has been tested and is NOT WORKING. It is being sold strictly as a restoration/repair project or antique collector\'s piece.
The enamel dial has age-related marks and hairline cracking, and there is general wear, scratching, tarnish and patina to the silver case consistent with its approximately 150-year age. The chain, key and coin fobs also show age and wear. Please examine all photographs carefully as they form part of the condition description.
