Antique 1910 Petit Larousse Illustré – Nouveau Dictionnaire Encyclopédique, published in Paris by Librairie Larousse under the direction of Claude Augé.
Wonderful early 20th-century French reference book featuring a highly decorative Art Nouveau-style illustrated cloth binding with the iconic Larousse “Je sème à tout vent” dandelion motif.
This substantial volume contains thousands of period illustrations along with encyclopedic plates and maps. The title page states 5,800 engravings, 130 plates and 120 maps. Contents include a French-language dictionary, encyclopedic information, illustrated natural-history subjects, geography, historical material, color maps and plates, and the distinctive pink-paper section devoted to Latin and foreign expressions.
Condition: Antique book with significant age-related wear. Cloth covers show rubbing, fading, staining/discoloration, fraying and wear along the edges, corners and spine ends. The front hinge is cracked/separating with binding material visible. Front endpaper is heavily torn with paper loss. Pages have age toning and other expected wear from a book more than 100 years old. Interior illustrations and color plates remain especially attractive. Please review all photos carefully for the exact condition.
