An original 1921 history of the famous Jersey bull Raleigh and his bloodline. The book covers his ancestry, physical traits, offspring, butter-test records, show-ring results, and notable descendants.
The book was prepared at the suggestion of the management of Longview Farm in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. It contains black-and-white cattle photographs, breeding records, an index, and a foldout pedigree chart.
This copy has a printed presentation statement from Oakwood Farm of Titusville, Pennsylvania, naming Luke B. Carter as proprietor. Carter was a noted purebred Jersey breeder and a director of the American Jersey Cattle Club.
This is not signed by Carter. The presentation statement shows that the copy was distributed with the compliments of Oakwood Farm.
Major hook: An original 1921 Jersey cattle history with direct Oakwood Farm presentation provenance from noted breeder Luke B. Carter.
Condition: Good minus if complete. Red cloth covers show heavy soiling, dark spots, fading, rubbing, worn edges, worn corners, and wear at the spine ends. Gilt cover lettering is faded but readable. Pages show age toning and scattered spotting. No dust jacket is present. The inner hinges, final page, photographs, and foldout pedigree chart were not shown and must be checked before listing.
