Antique Schafer & Vater Bisque Reclining Woman with Pig Figurine 3530 German 5”
An unusual antique German bisque porcelain figurine by Schäfer & Vater, depicting a smiling, reclining woman playfully lifting a little piglet above her.
She has beautifully molded flowing dark hair, a warm brown painted complexion, and a white chemise accented with pale green trim. Her expressive face, individually modeled fingers, and lively pose give this small figure wonderful character. Metal wire bracelets encircle her wrists; their age and originality are unknown.
The underside bears the impressed model number 3530 and a faint factory emblem consistent with Schäfer & Vater’s crowned-star mark. This particular woman-and-piglet model is documented in collector Sharon Hope Weintraub’s Bawdy Bisques and Naughty Novelties.
A distinctive addition to a collection of antique German bisque, bathing beauties, or whimsical animal-themed figurines.
