Rare and beautiful antique pair of Schafer & Vater Green wall plaques featuring a courting couple. The lady (6479.1.B) is with her dog. The gentleman (6479A) carries his walking stick and hat. The number 6479 documents that they are a matching pair. The raised white relief contrasts beautifully against the soft sage-green background. The decorative scrollwork and pillars complete its romantic Neoclassical design.
The lady is in wonderful condition. The gentleman has been broken and re-glued. You can see the break horizontally about chest level. These measure 7.75” tall by 3” wide. These were often hung on each side of a vanity mirror. It is rare to find a matching pair.
They would complement Victorian, French Country, Cottagecore, or traditional décor.
