• 23cm high attractive late 19th-century French Art Nouveau bronze bust of ‘Cendrillon’, after the celebrated sculptor Emmanuel Villanis.

  The young woman is depicted with her head turned elegantly to one side, her hair wrapped beneath a tied headscarf and drapery falling loosely across her shoulders. The sensitive modelling, romantic subject and flowing treatment of the fabric are characteristic of the Art Nouveau sculpture associated with Villanis and his contemporaries.

  Raised on a particularly attractive tall rectangular veined marble socle, providing a strong contrast with the warm brown patination of the bronze.

  A highly decorative French Art Nouveau bronze, combining an elegant female subject with an impressive architectural marble base.
