Artist \'John Desmond\' 1873 Watercolor Painting of a Massachusetts New England Coastal Scenery. This is one of Desmond\'s beautiful renderings of 19th century seaside living.This remarkable piece captures details of the authentic daily life of the late 1800s,a road leading to a beachfront homestead: smoking chimney, small shrubs/brush & fence, to a clear counterpoint of the rolling sea. The scene is extraordinarily balanced. If you collect antique watercolors, this is in the beautiful style of the New England School of Watercolors. Signed on bottom-left, Desmond - 73. Comes in framed gold-gilt wood, coupled with the original 1800s newspapers that was attached from the Boston, Waltham, Mass area. These are quite fragile showing age-wear throughout. This makes a perfect piece for serious art collectors.
Condition is Used/Pre-Owned Good antique condition with age-appropriate wear, frame has normal worn areas due to extreme age, just a bit dusty, (see pictures as part of description).The ornate gilt frame shows some wear typical of its age, which adds to its antique charm.Truly a lovely piece!
