Stunning Large-Scale Antique Manuscript Leaf on Vellum
For sale is a beautiful, monumental-scale leaf from a liturgical Antiphonary (choir book). This hand-inked manuscript features the Latin text of the famous sequence "Lauda Sion Salvatorem," composed by St. Thomas Aquinas.
The sheet is written on genuine vellum (stretched animal skin), showing the characteristic texture and durability of authentic period manuscripts. The music is written in square neume notation on 5-line red staves.
The visible text includes: "...panis vivus et vitalis hodie proponitur. Sit laus plena, fit sonora, fit jucunda, fit decora..." (The living and life-giving bread is set before us today. Let praise be full, let it be sonorous, let it be joyful, let it be fitting.)
