In daylight, this solid Sterling Hill specimen shows a dark, franklinite-rich surface broken up by pinkish-tan willemite patches spread across the face. The contrast is bold even without a lamp, with the franklinite giving the piece a heavy, metallic ore character.Under shortwave, the willemite lights up into a sweeping field of brilliant electric green covering most of the surface, with the dark franklinite threading through as crisp black relief. Under longwave the willemite stays strong, glowing a bright yellow-green in well-defined patches against the dark franklinite, so the piece holds its impact at both wavelengths.
